Flor del Desierto Desert is a savory sotol made from the Dasylirion leiophyllum plant with notes of sage smoke, leather, salt, and black pepper.
Flor del Desierto Desert is made by third-generation sotolero Gerardo Ruelas in Coyame del Sotol, Chihuahua, from the Dasylirion leiophyllum plant. The sotols are cooked in shallow pits fueled by oak firewood, chopped with axes and knives, fermented outdoors in underground vats, and distilled twice in copper stills. It is flavorful with notes of sage smoke and leather, with a salty undertone and a black pepper finish.
